Bedford Charter Township takes in the northwest corner of Calhoun County and sits mostly north of the Kalamazoo River, which forms a natural edge between it and Battle Creek. Much of the township is straightforward suburb, especially the Level Park and Oak Park stretch along Michigan Avenue, but it thins out quickly into farm ground and woodlots once you get past Bedford Road. The old village centre sits near the middle of the township on M-37. Township residents deal with a mix of city-style subdivisions and rural parcels on private drives, and those two situations need very different approaches to placing a container.

Level Park and Oak Park are dense with modest post-war houses on small lots, many with short driveways and street parking, so we usually place tight to the garage and back straight out. Further north the parcels get big, the driveways get long, and a fair number are gravel or two-track, sometimes with a culvert at the road. On those we ask about the culvert and any soft spots before we bring a loaded truck down. The work splits between household clean-outs, basement and crawlspace jobs after water problems near the river, roof tear-offs, and barn and pole-building demolition on the rural parcels. Estate clean-outs are common here too. Twenty yard boxes suit the big rural jobs; in Level Park a 10 or 15 yard box normally fits the driveway better and keeps the neighbours happy.
The split between the built-up end and the country end shows up in what fills the box. Around Level Park and Oak Park it is rental turnovers, small remodels and the clear-out that follows a sale, with a steady run of new roofs on houses that all went up within a decade of one another. North of the old village centre it turns into acreage work: brush and windfall off wooded parcels, above-ground pool and old deck removal, fence line clearing and the occasional mobile home strip-out. Autumn and early spring are the busy stretches, when people finally deal with what has piled up behind the shed. Brush loads bulky and light, so we usually send a larger container for that.

North out of the city on Helmer Road (M-37) or northwest on West Michigan Avenue (M-89), roughly five to seven miles and about twelve minutes. Main routes in: Helmer Road (M-37), West Michigan Avenue (M-89), Bedford Road.

It can be, so tell us up front. A loaded roll-off is heavy, and an older or undersized culvert can crack under it. We would rather set the box near the road end of the drive than damage your crossing. If the drive is firm and wide enough to back down, we will use it; if not, we will work out a spot that still keeps the walk short.
For a container on your own property, generally no. If it has to sit in the road right-of-way, or if you are in a subdivision with its own rules, check with Bedford Charter Township and with any homeowners association before delivery. Requirements differ from one municipality to the next around Battle Creek, so confirming with the township is always the safe move.
Yes, and it is common work in the rural half of the township. Old barns produce a lot of dimensional lumber, tin and sometimes fieldstone, which is heavy. We will normally stage a 20 yard box and swap it as you go rather than trying to squeeze the whole building into one load. Keep concrete, stone and dirt separate and tell us what is in the pile.
Usually yes, with a 10 or 15 yard box. Driveways there are short and often single-width, so a 20 yard container can overhang the sidewalk or block the garage. We put boards down under the rails to protect the surface, and we position the door end where you want to walk debris in. If in doubt, send a photo of the driveway before we come.
